December 18, 1982: WVWG Assists in Finding Downed Medivac Helicopter

On this date, the West Virginia Wing of the Civil Air Patrol assisted in the search of a fatal Medivac helicopter crash near Beverly, W.Va.

An excerpt from the New York Times;

A medical transport helicopter that crashed while ferrying a critically ill heart patient was found today by searchers and all three people aboard were dead, the state police said.
The helicopter ''was tore all to pieces,'' said Maj. Kermit Miller of the Civil Air Patrol.

February 22, 2008: Maryland & West Virginia CAP Ground Team Locate Missing A36 Bonanza

On this date in 2008, elements of the Maryland and Virgnia Civil Air Patrol Wings located a crashed private plane near Cumberland Regional Airport.


An excerpt from the Maryland CAP Wing website:
Civil Air Patrol located the missing A36 Bonanza aircraft at approximately 5:45 p.m. on February 22 three miles northeast of the Cumberland Regional Airport. CAP members from Maryland Wing and West Virginia Wing conducted the search along with the Maryland State Police. There were no survivors.
