March 22, 1987: CAP Finds Wreckage of Missing Army Captain's Plane in Kentucky

On this date in 1987, the CAP found wreckage of an airplane flown by a U.S. Army captain that had crashed on March 9, 1987.

An excerpt from the Associated Press via the Los Angeles Times:

The body of an Army recruiting officer missing since March 9 was found Sunday in the wreckage of his single-engine plane that crashed in rugged terrain near Oneida, Tenn., officials said. The plane flown by Capt. Benjamin Canaday was spotted about eight miles northeast of Scott County Airport, said a spokesman for the Civil Air Patrol in London, Ky.
